What is a Docent?
A docent is a volunteer teacher who serves the Museum and the community as a local history educator.
What Do Docents Do?
Currently, we have a few types of docents who share their love of local history. Some docents choose to volunteer in all categories, while others focus on one area of expertise. Touring Docents lead tours of the Museum gallery and Fernald Mansion, and our Outreach Docents give PowerPoint presentation in the local community and in the area high schools. Docents attend monthly continuing education meetings as part of their ongoing professional development.
