Santa Barbara is internationally known for it’s Spanish-Colonial architectural style and the quintessential example of that style is El Paseo, a charming complex in the heart of downtown. Designed to complement the Casa de la Guerra, the political and social center of the pueblo in the 19th century, it set the stage for the city’s architecture after the Great Earthquake in 1925. We invite you to discover the fascinating details (and fabulous wine!) discovered around every turn.
As one architectural historian has put it, “Why equivocate? El Paseo is not a great Santa Barbara building. It is a great American building.”
